Our founder, Jonathan Williams, has always been fascinated with buildings and towns. He grew up in the early 1990s in a small town of 7,000 people located in south-central Pennsylvania. Like most boys, he explored Elizabethtown by climbing trees and playing in the public parks.

However, his interest in buildings and infrastructure were sparked by creating forts, bridges and tree houses from salvaged and new materials, watching construction and renovation projects nearby, and even crawling through larger storm sewer pipes to find out where they connected. He watched the streets grow with traffic to see more lights added to intersections and the center square reworked to improve public safety. Living in an apartment in town, he would walk or ride bicycle to nearby stores to get groceries for his parents, or use his allowance to buy some candy and materials to paint model airplanes and Matchbox® cars.
One of the benefits of a small town is that you get to know many people. He was active from cub to boy scouts. While in middle school and high school he would get volunteer to design and build sets for plays and musicals within the schools and greater community. He learned carpentry and took pride in working part-time with a local builder to renovate and construct new houses and light commercial properties. Going off to Penn State to study Architectural Engineering, he began to appreciate how valuable the experiences of growing up in a small town were to learn to be part of society.
For more than two decades, Mr. Williams has worked on a multitude of renovation and development projects throughout the United States, frequently within urban environments. He has not forgotten those roots of a small town. So in 2017 he decided to act by moving his company headquarters into the small city of Laurel in Maryland where he owns the property. Through Town Charm Properties (TCP) he has embarked on a quest to renovate properties and to revitalize towns.
